Addlestone Community Association
About Addlestone Community Association
Founded 1948. Registered Charity No. 304962
Community Association (ACA) was formed in 1948 and the Community Centre
The REGULAR ACTIVITIES of the Association are organised by the Entertainments Committee, together with the various Sections. Additionally there are many local groups that are AFFILIATED to the Association. The interests of the sections range from Stamp Collecting to Keep Fit, and they meet at the Centre on various days of the week .
The SECTIONS in their turn report to both the Executive and the General Committees on their affairs. They support the running of the Centre with a financial contribution each year. Each Section raises the monies for their contribution in many different ways, including subscriptions from their Section membership, raffles, dances, shows, etc. Other funds come from public hire of the halls, public entertainment, Addlestone Arts Festival, 200 Club and Grant Aid, which has to be applied for each year from Runnymede Borough Council.
It is a condition that members of sections must be members of the Association.
All members of the Executive and the General Committee are volunteers, as are members of the committees and the officers of the Sections. They spend a great deal of time and effort ensuring that the Association runs smoothly.
The 200 Club is a monthly competition run by the ACA for its Members and as a support to its fund raising activities. It has a monthly prize draw with a first prize and three second prizes. These depend on the total membership subscription of the Club, being 25% and 8% of the monthly subscriptions respectively. The prizes are currently about £20 and £6.40.
There is an annual Christmas bonus prize of £75. The cost is £1 per month.
As well as activities at the Centre, the Entertainments Committee organise an annual programme of
